Only three days until our first meeting of the MPLS Swappers! So far we have 27 people registered, and I couldn’t be more excited.
I have been gathering my contributions all week: a pair of honey-sweetened jams, a variety of handmixed spice and herb blends, and possibly a small jar of homemade Master Tonic (a natural health-restorative tonic and a pretty kick-butt thing to add to marinades, dressings, etc). I’ve heard tell from other Swappers that there may also be other goodies such as homemade yogurt, tomatillo sauce, lots of backyard eggs, possibly homemade mustard, pickles, and possibly dry mushrooms or homemade bread. And that’s just the start!
My mouth is watering.
I can’t wait to meet all of you and your beautiful food. In the mean time, I’m off to get name tags, print food swap bid cards, and get lots of tea for us to drink. And, if you find yourself with a little free time, check out this great post on the NY Times Diners Journal Blog about DIY food, featuring the blog of fellow food swapper Kate Payne: http://dinersjournal.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/03/15/a-d-i-y-cooking-bibliography/
